Carrie Thompson Griffin, age 79, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died early Friday morning, August 31, 2018, at her home.
Funeral services will be held 3 PM, Sunday, September 2, 2018, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Dewain Joiner officiating. Interment will follow in the Salem Cemetery, in Ben Hill County, Georgia. The family will receive friends, Saturday evening, from 6 PM until 8 PM, at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Griffin was born February 23, 1939, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, to the late Leroy & Nellie Foxworthy Thompson. She lived in the community all of her life and was a homemaker. Mrs. Griffin enjoyed gardening, growing roses and loved her grandchildren. She was of the Pentecostal faith.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Bill Griffin of Fitzgerald; two sons: David & Myra Griffin of Fitzgerald and Kenny & Tammy Griffin of Ty Ty; a daughter, Cindy G. Young of Fernandina, Florida; Meme to 9 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Bonnie Williamson Griffin and a sister, Florence & Tommy Rodgers of Fitzgerald. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Steve Griffin, a granddaughter, Cindy Griffin; two brothers and one sister.
