Mary Alice Davis, 80, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Thursday, August 30, 2018, at Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald, Georgia.
Graveside services will be held 2 PM, Saturday, September 1, 2018, at the Evergreen Cemetery, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, with the Rev. Terry Pope officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the graveside at the funeral home.
Ms. Davis was born March 7, 1938, in Ben Hill County, Georgia, to the late Emmet & Bessie Idell Beal Davis. She was a graduate of Ashton School. Ms. Davis retired from HRS social services for the State of Florida. She spent the greater part of her adult life in Palatka, Florida, returning to Fitzgerald in 1992. She worked with Coastal Plains CSRG Council on Aging and enjoyed ceramics. She was an avid gardener growing flowers and vegetables. She always kept flowers on her loved one’s gravesites. She was an attentive and loving mother and was very devoted to her children. She gave all Glory and credit to her Lord for helping her to raise her family. She was a member of Dorminy’s Mill Baptist Church.
She is survived by her children: Danny Michael Cobb, Sr. & Cheryl of Jacksonville, Florida, Terri & Don Webb of Moultrie, Karen Chaney & Mark Hall of St. Augustine, Florida, Mark & Donna Cobb of Fitzgerald and Ricky Cobb of Fitzgerald; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; four sisters: Margie Harris of Fitzgerald, Dale West of Harlem, Judy Dale of Fitzgerald and Brenda & Donald Wiggins of Fitzgerald and a sister-in-law, Lane Davis of Fitzgerald. Several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Randy Cobb, a sister, Patsy Revels and a brother, Ray Davis.
