Obituary

Vernon Rowan, 84, of Omega passed away Friday, August 31, 2018, at the Rehabilitation Center of South Georgia in Tifton. A graveside funeral service will be held for Mr. Rowan at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, September 2, 2018, at Omega Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest. Brother Joe Simpson, Brother Bobby Rowan and David Sumner will officiate. The family will receive friends Saturday, September 1, 2018, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Gary Rowan, Ray Rowan, David Sumner, Aubrey Sumner, Terry Butler and Tim Butler will serve as pallbearers,

Born March 1, 1934 in Cook County, Mr. Rowan was the son of the late Thomas Lawton Rowan and Pearl Whitley Rowan. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Thomas L. Rowan Jr., Richard Rowan, Rudolph “Rudy” Rowan and Wayne Rowan; and three sisters, Myrtle Parker, Odessa Rowan and Linda Phillips. Before retiring, he was a self-employed carpenter. He was of the Christian faith and enjoyed reading the Bible and listening to sermons of Rev. William Branham. He loved visiting people and talking about the Lord. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.

Mr. Rowan is survived by one son, Everette Rowan of Omega; two brothers, Bobby Rowan of Tifton and Nate Rowan of Cincinnati, Ohio; and four sisters, Evelyn Eason of Oliver Springs, Tennessee, Pat Purvis of Lenox, Marie Hagadorn of Albany and Ovaline Williams of McDonough.
