Marie D. Tanguay, R.N.
Retired Tewksbury Nurse

TEWKSBURY: Marie “Denise” (DeRoche) Tanguay, R.N., age 76, a resident of Tewksbury for 40 years, passed away at the Life Care Center of the Merrimack Valley in Billerica on Thursday, August 30, 2018.

She was the beloved wife of 52 years to retired Tewksbury Police Officer, Roger J. Tanguay.

Born in Somerville on June 13, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Abel DeRoche and the late Mary (Bruning) DeRoche.

Denise was raised in West Medford, and graduated from St. Joseph’s High School.

Following high school, she attended the Lawrence Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, where she received her degree in Nursing.

Prior to her retirement, she worked as a nurse at the Oblate Novitiate, the Tewksbury Hospital and for the Tewksbury Public Schools.

Denise enjoyed many activities especially camping at Normandy Farms in Foxboro, socializing with fellow members of the Tewksbury Police Wives Association, and playing Bingo.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children, Mark J. Tanguay, Craig M. Tanguay and his wife Colleen, all of Tewksbury, and Michelle M. Haines and her boyfriend Stephen “Blacky” Martel, of Tyngsboro; eight grandchildren, Deven Tanguay, Alyssa Haines, Branden Tanguay, Aaron Tanguay, Michael Haines, Nicholas Tanguay, Stephen Martel, and Addison Tanguay; two great grandchildren, Desiree and Justice; one brother, Ronald DeRoche and his wife Diane, of Melrose; one sister, Betty E. Crump, of Holliston; many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Denise was the sister of the late Linda J. Weber.

Calling hours are Wednesday, Sept. 5, from 4-8 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Her funeral procession will begin on Thursday, Sept. 6, at 9 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Interment at St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, www. stjude.org, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105
