Marjorie E. (Castino) Miller, 92, of New Bedford passed away August 26, 2018. She was the beloved wife of the late Harold M. Miller. They were married for 65 years before his death in 2011.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Emerson B. and Gertrude M. (Lawrence) Castino, she lived in New Bedford most of her life.
Marjorie was fond of children and animals. In addition to raising her own six children, she cared for several children of family members. Her home always included a couple of four-legged creatures. Her door was always open for family and friends to gather around the kitchen table for coffee and conversation.
She was an accomplished knitter and shared her talent generously. Family and friends were the grateful recipients of her beautiful work. She also enjoyed ceramics for many years and possessed a steady hand and artistic eye. Planning ahead, she completed and stored away a ceramic Christmas tree for each grandchild.
Survivors include her children, Emerson of New Bedford, Janice Fernandes and her husband Paul of Dartmouth, Marjorie Miller-Mayer and her husband, Dr. Theodore Mayer, of Saint Clair Shores, MI, Reverend Patricia Miller Fernandes and her husband Wayne of Hampden, Harold Jr. and his wife Pamela Remy and Mark and his wife Nancy, all of Dartmouth; 17 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren, and her brother Kenneth Castino and his wife Joan of Dartmouth.
Her family wishes to thank her caregivers over the last several years for attending to her many needs and making it possible for her to remain in her home.
Her Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, September 4th at 11 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 10-11AM, prior to the service.
