SWANSEA – Maria F. (Castro) Deschenes, age 81 of Swansea, passed away on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 in Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Ernane Jose Antunes Castro and the late Etelvina (Sousa) Castro, and the beloved wife of Albert O. Deschenes. Prior to retiring, Maria worked for the Town of Swansea as a School Bus Driver for several years. She enjoyed trips to the Casino and spending time with her family.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Jason A. Deschenes (wife Jennifer) and their children, Colby, Riley, & Neely of N. Dighton; her daughter, Lynn A. Watras (husband Edward) and their children, Nora & Marin of Norton; 2 brothers, Belmiro & Eduardo Castro, and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Tony & Adrian Castro.
Following cremation, her wake will take place in the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, Inc. 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on Saturday, Sep. 1st from 10:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. with a service to follow in the funeral home. www.rogersfuneral.com.
