TEWKSBURY - Robert L. “Bob” Hillson, age 64, a lifelong Tewksbury resident, died peacefully on Tuesday afternoon, August 28, at Lowell General Hospital, supported and surrounded by his family, after a courageous four month battle with Melanoma. He was the husband and best friend of his childhood sweetheart, Sandra L. “Sandy” (Hersey) Hillson, with whom he had celebrated a fortieth wedding anniversary on July 15.
He was born in Woburn in January 1954, a son of Dorothy (Dimmock) Hillson of Louisville, KY, and the late Harold L. Hillson, and moved to Tewksbury in his infancy. Bob began a long career while still in his teenage years, working at his family’s business, the former Hillson’s Bicycle Shop in Tewksbury Center. After his graduation from Shawsheen Valley Technical High School in 1972, he became a draftsman, and eventually evolved his career into Service Manager in the H.V.A.C. business.
Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by three children, Michael R. Hillson and his wife Amanda (Towne) Hillson of Billerica, Christine M. Hillson and Daniel L. Hillson both of Tewksbury; his beloved grandchildren, Michael Jr., Meredith, and Nathan; two sisters, Patricia cash and her husband Bill of Plaistow, NH, and Karen Zamiar and her husband George of Louisville; a brother Brian Hillson of Louisville, a sister-in-law, Susan Checo of Tewksbury; and brothers-in-law, Darinn Hersey of Methuen, Scott Hersey of FL, and Stuart Hersey of Lexington; and many nieces and nephews.
