Barbara Collier, 86, went to be with Jesus on August 11, 2018 at the home of her daughter in Wheaton, IL after a brief illness.
Born in Anderson, IN, Barb attended Ball State University, where she received a teaching degree and went on to teach middle school. She married John Collier, a naval pilot who was killed in a plane accident three years later. She was remarried to Graydon Collier and after coming to know the Lord, she served as a Bible Study Fellowship Teaching Leader for 20 years. Barb was active at Madison Park Church and started their Women of the Word Bible study, served in Anderson’s jail ministry, the Sister-To-Sister House, and made multiple mission trips overseas. When she moved to Illinois in 2016, Barb attended Gospel Fellowship Church and continued her ministry through a Bible study in her apartment, the Befrienders program, and the friendships she made. She was always ready with a listening ear.
Barb is survived by her three children, John (Laura), David and Christine (Mark); her two brothers, Paul and Jerry; eight grandchildren, John R. Collier, Joshua Collier, Jacob Collier, Joel Erickson, Kirstin Erickson, Courtney Coppock, Matthew Guion, Greg Guion; and three great-grandchildren, Ella and Audrey Coppock and Dylan Guion.
Visitation will be on Saturday, September 1, 2018 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at
Madison Park Church of God.
The service will be held immediately following the visitation on September 1 at 12:00 pm at Madison Park Church of God.
Burial will be at East Maplewood Cemetery in Anderson.
