Dorothy Stone Reeves, 94, of Raleigh, North Carolina, died Friday, August 17, 2018, at her residence.
Graveside services will be held at 10 AM, Thursday, August 30, 2018, at Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald, with Bro. Rick Ellis officiating. The family will greet friends following the service at a reception in the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
Mrs. Reeves was born November 7, 1923, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, to the late Roland O. & Daisey Reese Stone. She held a Masters degree in Education and was a longtime educator for the Jefferson County Public School System in Louisville, Kentucky. She recently moved to Raleigh to be near family. She was a member of Hurstbourne Baptist Church in Louisville.
She is survived by her sons: Michael & Teresa Reeves of Columbia, Missouri and Douglas & Ellen Reeves of Raleigh, North Carolina; four grandchildren: Matthew, Andrew, Alison and Rosemary; five great-grandchildren: Ava, Violet, Olivia, Scarlet and Iris; and two sisters: Angelle Stone Adams of Atlanta (formerly of Fitzgerald) and Emily Stone Carswell of Columbus, Georgia. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, R.W. Reeves, Jr.
