SANBORNTON-----With her loving family at her side, Diane Griffin, 76, passed away peacefully after a long, hard struggle with COPD on Sunday, August 26, 2018. She had such a fervent will to live that her strong spirit fought to survive but we are consoled that she will now rest at peace with her beloved daughter Cathleen, who predeceased her in 1998.
Diane was born on January 12, 1942 in Lawrence, Mass. to Romeo Perusse and Hazel (Doherty) Shea. She moved to the Lakes Region of NH twenty years ago and resided in Sanbornton with her devoted life partner Kenneth Freeman.
Ken's inventive health equipment helped to make Diane's final years more comfortable, improving the quality of her life to fully enjoy spending time with her family.
Diane's world revolved around family gatherings and she urged them to remain faithful to that legacy. Affectionately called "Nanny" by her grandchildren, she was always supportive of each and every one of them, encouraging them in their endeavors: school, sports, careers, life-goals. Always young at heart, her most favorite tradition was to visit Disney World with her family. She enjoyed her beautiful home in Sanbornton and loved spending vacations at The Beachmere Inn in Ogunquit, Maine or anywhere her family gathered.
Diane is also survived by her caring daughters: Maureen Nasser and her husband, Charles Nasser and Colleen O'Riordan; her grandchildren: Kevin Lacroix, Trey Nasser, Ravenne Nasser, and Shannon O'Riordan; her brothers, David Perusse and William McBride; her former husband John Griffin, and Ken's daughter, Emily Freeman.
