New Bedford – Cecelia (Medeiros) Correia, age 88 years old, passed away on Sunday, August 26, 2018 at the New Bedford Jewish Convalescent Home. She was the beloved wife of the late Richard Correia and the daughter of the late John and Laura (Sylvia) Medeiros.
Cecelia was born in New Bedford, MA and had previously worked at Sunrise Bakery.
She is survived by her children, Linda Witzenfeld and her husband, Jack of Virginia Beach, VA, Nancy Lewis and her husband, Jeff of North Dartmouth, Doreen Benoit and her husband, Robert of Acushnet, Scott Correia and his wife, Tracey of New Bedford and Lori Ferreira and her husband, Jon of Columbus, GA; 9 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren with 2 more great-grandchildren expected; siblings, Manuel Medeiros of New Bedford and Dorothy Camire of North Dartmouth; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Laura Morris, John Medeiros, Mary Tavares and Frank Medeiros.
Cecelia’s visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home. Her funeral will be held in the funeral home on Thursday morning, beginning at 9:30 A.M. with a service to begin at 10:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in St. John Cemetery.
