Dorothy “Dot” James Anderson entered into rest on Friday, August 24, 2018. She was born on August 25, 1928 and she is enjoying her 90th birthday in Heaven.
Today our mother celebrates alive and unfettered, eternally in the presence of God. Daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt and friend, Dot touched the lives of many- each in a unique way.
Preceded in death by John Thomas, her beloved husband; parents Marion P. and Sarah Margaret James; sisters Margaret Ann Stone and Sarah Frances Parrish; she leaves behind four daughters and their families as her legacy: Beverly Deal (Charles “Butch”), Sarah Teresa (Teri) Perry (Dennis), Hope Remsen (Bill), and Beth Meagher (Patrick). Grandchildren: Todd Dyches; Michael (deceased)(Maureen), Lisa (deceased), John (Michelle) and Clayton (Victoria) Perry; Delaney Remsen; Ryan (Danielle), Brennan (Ted Smith), David (Kim) and Avery Meagher. Great-grandchildren: Lexi and Garrett Dyches; Douglas, Karmen, Bobby, and Ava Jean Perry; Kenzie Layton, Noah, Madison and Mason Meagher.
Born in Detroit, MI, Dot grew up on Circular Drive in Augusta, found Jesus at Fleming Baptist Church and was a member of Crawford Avenue Baptist Church for over 70 years. She loved her time working at Silvers, Davison’s and as a telephone operator for Southern Bell.
Join us to celebrate an earthly life well-lived and a joyous passage into eternal life. Mama’s favorite color was yellow, and she loved the Georgia Bulldogs. Please do not feel compelled to wear black. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 P.M. Tuesday at Platt’s Crawford Avenue Chapel. A celebration of Dot’s life will take place at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday in the sanctuary of Crawford Avenue Baptist Church. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service in the Daniel Chapel. Reverend Brian LaFavor will officiate. Interment will follow in Westover Memorial Park.
