Henry F. Williams, 91, of Elmdale Road, Scituate, died peacefully Monday, August 20, 2018 at the Hope Hospice and Palliative Care in Providence with his daughter Elaine by his side. He was the husband of Marion L. (Ottinger) Williams who died July 3rd. They had been married for 69 years.
Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Henry E. Williams and Rose B. (Petit) (Williams) Dunham. Bud spent his early years growing up in the Mt. Pleasant neighborhood of Providence and later Greenville. Bud joined the US Navy in 1944 and was a Yeoman in the SeaBees until his discharge in 1947.
Bud spent most of his adult life working at Electric Boat in Groton, CT. Marion and Bud built their home and raised their three daughters in North Scituate- the same home he was living in until the time of his death. Bud and Marion enjoyed dancing and were active square dancers with the “Clodhoppers” for many years. They enjoyed camping and spent their vacations taking their children to Burlingame State Park and Long Lake, ME every summer where days were spent sailing and swimming. In retirement, they spent 22 winters at John Prince Park campground in Lake Worth, Florida and were blessed to make many good friends who reunited every winter. They also spent many summer and fall weekends camping with their Good Sam and RIFCA groups.
Bud is survived by his daughters: Elaine C. McDermott, Denise A. McLaughlin and Linda J. Siravo (Steven Saldibar), his grandchildren: Naomi Siravo, Nicole (Brian) Nieves, Thomas McLaughlin and Kelsey McLaughlin and his great-grandchildren: Kaiden and Camilla Nieves. He also leaves his sister in law Beverly Connor, 4 nieces and a nephew and many relatives from the Petit family. In addition to his parents and wife, Bud was predeceased by his sons-in-law Dennis McDermott and Thomas F. McLaughlin, Jr., his sister Madeline Jenkins and his brother in law Richard Connor.
His funeral service will be held Tuesday at 12 noon in St Thomas Episcopal Church, Route 44, Greenville. Visitation Tuesday 10:30-11:30AM in the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Burial with Military Honors will be in Highland Park, Johnston.
