Robert A. Galley, 80, of Dartmouth, passed away on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer at St. Luke's Hospital. He was the husband of Virginia A. "Ginger" (Cabral) Souza Galley.
Mr. Galley was born in McKeesport, PA, son of the late Leo and Barbara I. (Lewandowski) Galley and had been a longtime resident of Dartmouth. A veteran of the Korean Conflict, he served his country in the U.S. Navy. Prior to his retirement, he worked for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co., New Bedford for 30 years and Shaws Supermarket, New Bedford. Mr. Galley enjoyed reading, gardening, fishing and playing cards with friends. Most of all though, he loved spending time with his family.
Survivors along with his wife include his 2 sons: Douglas E. Galley of Fairhaven and Ronald A. Galley and his wife Judy of Rochester; his daughter: Robin A. Hartley and her husband Charles K. of Acushnet; 2 step-sons: Gerald Souza and his wife Elizabeth of Dartmouth and Christopher P. Souza and his companion Karen Elias of Mattapoisett; 3 brothers: Charles Galley and his wife Jackie of PA, Leo Galley and his wife Kathy of PA and John Galley of PA; 3 sisters: Judith Oskin and her husband Joseph of OH, Kristine Potts of PA and Polly Lewis and her husband Glenn of PA; 9 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Barbara Snedden.
Funeral service to which relatives and friends are invited will be Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at the Potter Funeral Home at 10:00 A.M.
Interment will be in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
Calling hours will be Tuesday from 5-8 P.M.
