WAYLAND: Martin L. Pendleton, Jr., 84, died on Monday, August 20, 2018 following a brief illness.
He was born on May 16, 1934 in Cambridge the son of the late Martin L. Pendleton, Sr and Helen (Fitzpatrick) Pendleton.
Martin was the loving husband for 58 years of the late Carolyn J. “Carol” (McNeil Pendleton who died on May 9, 2016.
Martin was the devoted father of Martin L. Pendleton, III of Framingham; Karen A. Chase and her husband Clay Chase of Framingham and Brian E. Pendleton and his wife Nadina Pendleton of Ware. Cherished grandfather of Ashley M. Pendleton, Michael E. Chase, Jennifer L. Chase, Brian E. Pendleton, Jr, Cassandra J. Pendleton and Elizabeth M. Pendleton. Great-grandfather of Kelsea Chase. Brother of Catherine S. McEllin of Wayland and the late Frederick J. Pendleton.
He has been a resident of Wayland for over 56 years. He spent his formative years in Watertown and graduated from Watertown High School. He received his BS in Accounting from Northeastern University and attended on a full athletic scholarship in track and field where he excelled in the sport and received many awards while attending college. He was an independent contractor in the field of Computer Programming for many years and was associated with IBM, Blue Cross/Blue Shield and Honeywell. For over 30 years, he taught night classes in Computer Programming at Northeastern University.
Martin was an avid golfer and also enjoyed sailing his sailboat at the Cape as well as Nantucket and Marthas Vineyard. He served his country proudly as a First Lieutenant with the United States Army. Martin was devoted to his family and will be missed by all who knew him.
Visitations will be held on Sunday, August 26, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (off Rte. 30), Wayland.
His funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday, August 27, 2018 at 11:00 o’clock followed by interment in the Pendleton family lot in Lakeview Cemetery in Wayland.
