Obituary

Laurien Ruth Seanor Davis, 84, of Tifton passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2018, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 23, 2018, in the Memorial Chapel of Tifton’s First Baptist Church with Dr. Wayne Roe and Bro. Lester Potts officiating. Mrs. Davis will be laid to rest at Zion Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Tifton. The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 22, 2018, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Drew Diffie, Jake McMillan, Sam Cobb, Stan Diffie, Kip McMillan and Steve Woodham will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Mac Sims, Dr. Marcus Roberts, Dr. Tony Rowe and Charles Swain.

Born February 10, 1934 in Fitzgerald, Mrs. Davis was the daughter of the late Preston Bauder Seanor and Orleans Humphreys Seanor. She received her Bachelors degree in Science from Georgia Teachers College (now Georgia Southern University) and her Masters degree in Education from Valdosta State University with a minor in Music from ABAC. She was a retired teacher and taught in the public school system in Augusta while her husband completed medical school. She also taught in the Tift County School System and at ABAC, and was a Bible scholar. She loved composing and arranging music to play at church for the Senior Adult choir. She also taught private piano lessons for many students. She was formerly the pianist at Tifton’s First Baptist Church, Zion Hope Baptist Church, and Calvary Baptist Church and also taught Sunday school at these churches. She was a member of Tifton’s First Baptist Church where she started the Senior Adult Choir in 1991 and also sewed costumes for various church events. The theme of her life was teaching others. In addition, she was a master seamstress and loved crafting with her grandchildren.

Mrs. Davis is survived by her husband and love of her life, Dr. F. Morris Davis of Tifton, whom she married on July 31, 1955, her five beloved children and their spouses, Maryann Davis Veal of Fitzgerald, Frank Morris Davis, Jr. of Tifton, Lynne and Samuel E. Cobb, Jr. of Brooks, Laurie and Stan Diffie of Tifton, and Lisa and Kip McMillan of Albany, one brother and sister-in-law, John W. and Gwen Seanor of Fitzgerald, six grandchildren, Angela Aguazul, Drew Diffie, Auburn Diffie, Kayla McMillan Seagraves and husband
