Obituary

DAYTON - Stanley Goddard, age 75, passed away peacefully at the Gosnell House on August 16, 2018, following a long illness.

Stan was born in 1943 in South Paris and raised by the late Bill and Clara Elliot of Rumford Point. After graduating from Stephens High School, Stan entered the United States Air Force. It was during this time that he met the love of his life, Willa, on a blind date. They wed in 1964 and were married for 54 years.

Stan served in southeast Asia during the Vietnam War. He and his family lived in many areas while in the service. Once he left the service, they returned to his home town of Rumford Point. He began his civilian career as a truck driver and eventually settled down with his family in Biddeford and then Dayton.

Stan was a true outdoorsman with a passion for gardening, fishing and most of all, hunting. He spent hours planning and recounting his trips hunting white tailed deer, bear and moose throughout the state. He was even drawn for the moose hunt lottery three times and had two successful hunts. Some of Stan’s and the family’s fondest memories were made during trips to camp in Upton and Jackman.

He is survived by his wife Willa, daughters Sue Libby and her husband Mark, Lori Gallant and her husband Paul, his son Chris and his wife Jenn, ten grandchildren - Sarah, Ben, Kayla, Ian, Jenny, Tyler, Cory, Megan, Brody, Nicholas and his wife Kayla, two great-grandchildren, Jensen and Amaunet, and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a sister, Donna. Stan was predeceased by his parents and his brothers Bob, Don, and Sidney.

A very casual, potluck, celebration of life for family and friends to gather, will be held at Moody’s Collision Event Room, 200 Narragansett Street, Gorham, ME on September 8 at 1:00pm.
