Robert Brown Davis 85, died peacefully in his sleep on Thursday August 9, 2018 in Beverly, MA while in the company of friends and family. His death was a result of complications related to lung cancer.
Robert was born on April 27, 1933 in New Bedford, MA to Aldena Brown Davis and William C. Davis of Fairhaven, MA. His sister Mary Lou and daughter Rachel predeceased him in death. In 1967 Robert married Elizabeth Davis; the marriage ended in divorce. Together they raised their children Susan, Heidi, Rachel, Jacob, Rebekah, and Sarah. Robert was the grandfather to ten grandchildren Anthony, Amanda, Douglas, Tommy, Ally, Matthew, Andrew, Sadie, Alexis, and Hayden.
Robert received his education at Boston College where he studied Math and Philosophy. He taught education at Marte Day College in Ogdensburg, NY, among other occupations. Robert was a United States Army veteran and served in the 82nd Airborne Division. Robert was active in the Catholic church and enjoyed reading and collecting books. Robert took great pride in his children and grandchildren.
His Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday September 8, 2018 at 11 AM at St. Lawrence Church, 565 County St., New Bedford. There will be a post mass honor guard in respect to Robert’s service to his country. Burial will be private. Arrangments are by the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
