Obituary

DUDLEY – Rose M. (Bacovin) Ayres, 88, of 6 Fourth Avenue, died Sunday, Nov. 27, at home after being stricken ill. Her husband, William J. Ayres, died in 1988.

She leaves several nieces and nephews; a brother-in-law, John Ayres and his wife Stella of Southbridge; and three sisters-in-law, Rose Luponi of Peabody, and Ann Tromblay and Chris Gendron, both of Southbridge.

She was born in Dudley, a daughter of Michael and Anna (Stremba) Bacovin, and was a lifelong resident.

Mrs. Ayres was employed at Packard Mills in Dudley for 28 years, and then as a packager at American Optical Company in Southbridge for 15 years before she retired.

She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church and the Saint Louis League of Catholic Women.

The funeral will be held Tuesday, Nov. 29, from Scanlon Funeral Service, East Main St., Webster, with a Mass at 11:00 AM in Saint Anthony of Padua Church, 24 Dudley Hill Road. Burial will be in Saint Anthony’s Cemetery, Webster. A calling hour will be from 9:15 to 10:15 AM Tuesday, Nov. 29, at the funeral home.
