Barbara Anne Rinaldi, 82, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 11, 2018, at Grandview Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama. She was born on January 27, 1936, in Bristol, Connecticut, to the late Amos and Grace Lavigne. Barbara married the late Valentine Rinaldi and they were happily married for 48 years; together they raised three children in Torrington, Connecticut.
Barbara served as a registered nurse at Wolcott Hall in Torrington for 40 years where she served her patients with compassion and unmeasurable kindness. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother who loved to play piano, quilt, and read. She also had a great love for her dogs, Misty and Odie.
Survived by her son Peter (Debra) Rinaldi of New Albany, Mississippi; two daughters, Valerie (Steve) Cillizza of Derry, New Hampshire and Lorie (Ed) Mackinnon of Old Orchard Beach, Maine; six grandchildren, Matt Rinaldi of Bradford, Rhode Island; Nicole (Ed) Maxwell of Oxford, Mississippi; Jacqueline (Dan) Rahaim of Middletown, Connecticut; Alexandra (Sean) Hanjra of Northwood, New Hampshire; Nick Arnista of Durham, New Hampshire; and Cassie Mackinnon of Westmoreland, New Hampshire; and one brother, Albert Lavigne of Ridgeland, South Carolina; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and one sister; Joan Battistoni.
Her life will be celebrated in private services by her family. In lieu of flowers, donations given to your personal favorite charity in her name would be greatly appreciated.
