Michael DelGenio, 93, a lifelong resident of Medway, died peacefully on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at his home after a long illness. He was the beloved husband of 75 years to Pauline (Ott) DelGenio.
Born in Medway on May 4, 1925, he was the son of the late Guiseppe and Carmella (Monica) DelGenio.
Mike was a WWII Army veteran serving in the South Pacific and the Battle of the Bulge. After the war he worked at the Medway Water Department for 2 years.
Before his retirement, he worked at the former Rosenfield Concrete in Hopedale for 40 years and was a member of the Teamsters Union Local 170.
Mike was a member of the Medway VFW, the Studebaker Club and the Model A Restorers Club. He was an antique car enthusiast and enjoyed auto racing. Mr. DelGenio was also an avid skier and was a member of the Flying 50’s Ski Club at Loon Mountain.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter Dianne Lagadec and her husband Gerald of Halifax and his son David DelGenio and his wife Joan of Acworth, NH. He was the father of the late Michael DelGenio, Jr.
He is also survived by four grandchildren, Jessica, Geoffrey, Jonas and Carmen and two great-grandchildren, Sammy and Noah.
He was the brother of the late Ralph, Louis and Joseph DelGenio, Antoinette Cunning and Loretta Panechelli.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Saturday, August 18 from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. at the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) followed by a funeral Mass at St. Joseph Church, at 151 Village St. in Medway at 11 a.m.
Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Medway.
