U.S. Army Veteran

TEWKSBURY: Ronald David Bruno, age 60, a resident of Tewksbury for the past 28 years, passed away at the Lowell General Hospital-Saints Campus on Sunday, August 12, 2018. He was the beloved husband of Melody L. (Adam) Bruno, with whom he would have celebrated their 34th wedding anniversary on October 20. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Jennifer Bruno and her fiancé Bob Evans, and Christopher Bruno; two grandchildren, Luna Mae Evans and Harper Sage Evans; three brothers, Kenny Bruno and his wife Jamie, Bernie Bruno and his wife Carol, Lee Bruno, and the late Wayne Bruno; also many extended family members and friends.

Born in Perth Amboy, NJ on January 20, 1958, he was the son of the late Bernard D. and Carol (Mundy) Bruno. Ron was raised in Metuchen, NJ and attended Metuchen High School where he took up wrestling and track and field. He served in the military as a U.S. Army Ranger from 1978-1981 where he was stationed overseas in Gelnhausen, Germany, and then in 1990 he served as an infantryman in the Massachusetts Army National Guard.
Prior to his injury in 1993, he worked as a Chef for U. Mass-Lowell. He was always a sports fan and an avid collector of memorabilia, he spent many years coaching youth sports and was a second degree black belt in karate. Over the past 24 years he has battled many chronic medical conditions, but family was always so important to him and he fought bravely every day for them. During the last year he received the greatest gift, becoming a grandfather to his twin granddaughters. They were the absolute joy of his life and brought him much happiness.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, Aug. 17, from 4-7 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury, immediately followed by his Memorial service to be held at the funeral home.
