Kenneth Talmadge Houck, entered into rest on August 12, 2018.
He was born on October 7, 1925 in Augusta, Georgia, the son of the late Homer and Jessie Rabb Houck.
Mr. Houck was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II. He attended Richmond Academy and held degrees from both The University of Georgia and The Georgia Institute of Technology.
Kenneth was the retired owner of Kenneth Houck Interiors. His restoration of a nineteenth century townhouse on Telfair Street, as his office and showroom, was an early hallmark of downtown Augusta historic preservation.
Mr. Houck’s signature style was exemplified in hundreds of Augusta residences and offices and his firm was favored by many homeowners and builders across South Carolina and Coastal Georgia.
He particularly pointed, with pride, to his long professional association with Augusta National Golf Club, directing renovations in the clubhouse and cottages, including the Eisenhower residence, “Mamie’s Cabin”.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Houck was preceded in death by his sister, Sue Houck Rainey.
He is survived by nephews, Ben Rainey of Irmo, SC and David Rainey (Kathleen) of Lexington, SC and two great nephews, Nicholas Rainey and Daniel Rainey.
A memorial service will be held, on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at 11:00 am, in the Storey Chapel of The First Baptist Church of Augusta.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The First Baptist Church of Augusta, 3500 Walton Way Extension, Augusta, GA 30909.
