Marjorie Anne (Doucas) Tortolano, age 93, of Melrose passed away peacefully on August 1, 2018. Marjorie or "Marge" as she was affectionately known was born in Peabody, on March 10, 1925, to the late Louis V. and Mary (Morris) Doucas.
Always an avid reader and excellent student, Marge graduated from Danvers High School. She married Silvio Frank Tortolano in 1946 and moved to Woburn where she raised her children, then relocated to Melrose where she resided for the remainder of her life. In addition to Silvio and her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Wilder. She worked as a medical assistant for the late Doctors, Arthur Veno and Bernard Wisniewski, for many years. Marge valued family and was very much involved in her children and grandchildren’s lives. She was an avid reader and storyteller about her past. You never saw her without hearing a very intricate and detailed account of her family or childhood as she loved to share her memories. Her faith was an important part of her life and she was an active participant in the church. Marge loved to bake birthday cakes, Christmas cookies and sharing visits, holidays, and vacations with her family. She also enjoyed music, doing crossword puzzles, writing beautiful letters, and gardening as well as taking the occasional trip to a casino.

She is further survived by her sister, Catherine Winston of Fl, her loving grandchildren Laura (Tortolano) Rebelo and Andrea Tortolano; great grandchildren Mia, Evan, Colin, and Allison; several nieces and nephews.
