James Edwin Rowe, 76, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Thursday, August 9, 2018, at Pruitt Health in Ocilla.
Funeral services will be held 3 PM, Sunday, August 12, 2018, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with the Rev. C.A. Hulett officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Rowe was born May 20, 1942, in Wilcox County, Georgia, to the late Warren Fisher & Ada Mae Merritt Rowe. He was an entrepreneur and owned and operated many businesses including trailer and car sales and a service station. He always enjoyed helping others. He was a farmer and loved to garden and sell produce. He was a member of Anderson Memorial Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Alene Williamson Rowe, of Fitzgerald; one son, James Warren Rowe of Silsbee, Texas; three daughters: Elizabeth & Tommy Gentry of Irwinville, Cheryl DeBerry of Ocilla and Diane & Marty Wright of Ocilla; six grandchildren: Tommy & Trisha Gentry of Douglas, Brian Gentry of Irwinville, Hope & Chuck Folker of Ocilla, Heather & Todd Wigfield of Charleston, South Carolina, Kristi Strickland of New Albany, Indiana, and Savanna Wright of Ocilla; eight great-grandchildren; and a brother, Joe Allen Rowe of Fitzgerald. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, David DeBerry; three sisters, Vivian Barrett, Barbara Spicer, and Till O’Leary; and two brothers: Grady Rowe and Lee Rowe.
