John J. O’Connor, Sr., 72, of North Oxford died Tuesday, August 7th in the Overlook Masonic Home. He leaves his wife of 51 years, Kathleen M. (McDonald) O’Connor; his two sons, John J. O’Connor, Jr. of Millbury, David P. O’Connor and his wife, Susan of Dudley; and his daughter, Suzanne L. Bourque of North Oxford. John was predeceased by his daughter, Kerry A. O’Connor. He also leaves his beloved grandchildren, Michael J. Gallo, Adrianna R. Bourque and Jonathan O’Connor; and his great-granddaughter, Sophia D. Coghlan.
John was born in Worcester, the son of Patrick F. and Mary (Philbin) O’Connor. He served in the Army National Guard, was a member of St. Ann’s Parish in North Oxford and a former member of the Auburn/Webster Elks. John owned and operated O'Connor Construction Company for over fifty years. He also worked as a paving subcontractor for Polar Beverage Company of Worcester for many years and with other local construction companies. John's favorite times were spent with his grandchildren and his great-granddaughter as well as playing the lottery.
Calling hours are Monday, August 13th from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester. John's funeral is Tuesday, August 14th with a Mass 10:00 AM in St. Ann’s Parish, 654 Main Street, North Oxford (please go directly to church). Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, 260 Cambridge Street, Worcester.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in John’s memory to a charity of the donor’s choice.
