Spent most of his life working for the city of Brooklyn Park, MN and also proudly served on their fire department retiring as Captain in 1983. In his retirement he pursued his passions for woodworking, welding and hunting which benefited the communities in which he lived. Survived by loving wife of 60 years, Bev; children, Cindy (Gary) Smith, Sue (Jim) Williams; grandchildren, Dan (Sarah) Williams, Stephanie (Drew) Martin; 5 great-grandchildren; sister, RuthAnn (Bud) Hanson and many other special friends and relatives too numerous to list. Preceded in death by son, Dan Schmidt; brothers Wally and Gene. Mass of Christian Burial Friday (8/10) 11 AM, CHURCH OF ST. PETER, 2600 Margaret Street N, North St. Paul with visitation one hour prior. Private family interment to follow at Gethsemane Cemetery in New Hope.
