Obituary

Raymond A. Michaud, Retired U. S. Air Force Master Sgt, 87, of Delray Beach, FL and a former resident of Salem, passed away unexpectedly at the Bethesda Hospital East in Boynton Beach, Florida on Thursday, August 2, 2018. He was the devoted husband of the late Mary (Epstein) Michaud.
Born and raised in Salem he was the son of the late Alphonse and Marie Anna (Ross) Michaud. Ray joined the U.S. Air Force following his graduation at age 18 and served worldwide for the next 23 years of his life. He, his wife Mary and family lived in many parts of the US and Europe throughout his career. He retired at the age of 41 and returned to Salem where he opened RAM Pro Shop in All Star Lanes and later RAM Mart, a variety store on Essex Street in Salem. The couple retired in 1988 and moved to Hollywood Florida and eventually settled in Delray Beach.
Ray is survived by his son, Bruce E. Michaud and his wife Marianne of N. Andover, his daughter Michele A. Michaud of Boynton Beach, FL and her boyfriend John Maksin, his four grandchildren, Robert Michaud, Cheryl Hemsey, Caron Morgan and Beverly Michaud D’Amico, seven great-grandchildren; Sophia & Max Hemsey, Anna & Drew Michaud, Michael Ross, Ethan & Ryan Morgan. He also leaves two sisters, Lorraine Southham of Ormond Beach, FL and Alice (Akatyszewski) Terry of Salem, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Wayne Michaud, his sister, Marie Demirs, his brothers, John B., Robert, Albert, Henry, Louis, Napoleon and Edward Michaud.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Route 114 / 1-A] Salem on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 9:00 AM to be followed by his Mass of Burial in St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 251 Cabot St., Beverly at 10:30 AM. Burial & Military Honors will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. His calling hours, at the funeral home will be on Friday, Aug. 10th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM.
