Dorothy S. (Arruda) Harkins, 83, of New Bedford died Thursday August 2, 2018 at Hathaway Manor.
She was the wife of the late George W. Harkins, Jr.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Manuel S. and Marion (Medeiros) Arruda, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
Mrs. Harkins was formerly employed as a cashier at Stop & Shop for 25 years until her retirement.
Survivors include a son, Joseph Estrella of New Bedford; a brother, Manuel Arruda, Jr. of New Bedford; a sister, Geraldine DeMello of New Bedford; four grandchildren, Nicole Costa, Brandon Estrella, Sarah Estrella, and Shaylee Estrella; five great-grandchildren, Brianna, Devin, Jasmine, Ariana and Carlos; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late David Estrella and the sister of the late Arthur Arruda, Alice Wagner, Lillian Perry, Nora Costa, David Arruda and Eileen Caton.
Her Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday August 14, 2018 at 11 AM in Riverside Cemetery.
