In the early morning hours of Sunday August 5, 2018, Nicholas M. Coutinho lost his long battle with depression. Nick was born in New Bedford on July 15, 1985. He lived most of his life in Acushnet, attending Acushnet schools, and for the past few years resided in Fairhaven. Nick was about to begin his second year of college working toward his Associates Degree in Computer Programming.
Nick leaves behind his beautiful infant daughter Ellie Jane Coutinho, his parents Michael and Susan Coutinho of Acushnet, his sister and brother-in-law Elizabeth and Joseph Pereira of Acushnet, his niece Aubrey Pereira whom he lovingly nicknamed Bob, and his maternal grandmother Florida Cormier whom he had spent so much time caring for. Nick also leaves behind a loving family consisting of his aunts Susan Sorelle of East Freetown, Cynthia Semple and her husband Chip of Rochester, his cousins, Aaron Sorelle of East Freetown, Nathan Sorelle and his wife Jessica of Fairhaven, Anne Sorelle of Lakeville, Paul Farias and Tara Deschenes of Rochester. Nick also leaves behind so many of his closest friends whom he considered to be his family.
Nick is now in the loving arms of his predeceased family, his maternal grandfather George Cormier, his paternal grandparents Manuel and Elizabeth Coutinho and his cousin Jason Sorelle.
His visitation will be held on Friday August 10, 2018 from 8:30-10:30 AM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11 AM at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 121 Mt. Pleasant St., New Bedford. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. The family would like to request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Nick's name to the Jason Foundation which is dedicated to the prevention of youth suicide.
