Richard A. Rocha, 76, of New Bedford died Saturday August 4 2018 in New Britain, Connecticut. He was the son of the late Alice Texeira Rocha Morales and the late Charles Rocha.
Richard is survived by his devoted wife Jane Gomperts Rocha and dearest daughter Charlene Rocha-Arruda and her husband Matthew of New Bedford.
Richard is also survived by his loving daughters, Christina Rocha, Miranda Roderick, Andrea Roderick and her fiancee Mathew Vaz, all of New Bedford, daughter Genevra Lawrence and her husband Bryan of Cumberland, RI, and sons Jonathan Bunie Roderick and Mark Gomes of New Bedford. He is also survived by his sister Delores Roderick of South Carolina, brother Alfred Rocha and wife Brenda of California, sisters-in-law, Carol Rocha of Connecticut and Cynthia Rocha-DeBarros of New Bedford, brother-in-law Joseph DeMarco of Las Vegas and many cousins, nieces and nephews all across the country.
Richard leaves behind his greatest treasures, his grandchildren, Troy Rocha, Adrianna, Eden and Emerson Vaz of New Bedford, Aiden Roderick of Padanaram, Reed, Samira and DJ Perry and Jayden Lawrence of Cumberland, RI.
We know in our hearts that Richard has finally reunited with his late sons Troy A. Rocha and Richard A. Rocha, Jr., his late brothers Charles (Junior), Donald and Gary Rocha, Albert Roderick and his late sister Patricia DeMarco.
Anyone that knew Richard, would tell you that he was a larger than life personality. He truly lived life to the fullest and on his own terms. He considered just about everyone he met to be a friend and was always quick with a handshake, a hello and a joke or two or three or even more. If he was with family and friends, he was happy. If he was pitching horse shoes, dancing or playing cards he was happy then too. He leaves with us a wealth of good memories and love.

We have entrusted Richard's services to Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, where visitation will be held on Wednesday August 8, 2018 from 5-8 PM. His Funeral will be held from the Funeral Home on Thursday August 9, 2018 at 8 AM followed by his Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 9 AM. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
