Rob passed away on Saturday, August 4, 2018.
Robert was born on May 14, 1945 in Medford, Massachusetts. A graduate of Norwich University, served in the United States Army from 1968 – 1970 and then in the Army Reserves until 1974. He lived with his family in Maine and in Easton and Franconia, before settling in Laconia and then Belmont, New Hampshire. Rob liked a challenge and together with Wende purchased Quik Laundry and Dry Cleaners in 1983.
He ran his first Apple Orchard in Madison, Maine in 1974 and fell in love with farming, T-shirts and blue jeans. He bought Smith Apple Orchard, in 1986. Loved tinkering with his tractors, working on antique cars and celebrating with his family and friends.
Rob was devoted to his wife, Wende, of nearly 50 years and his children, Jennifer Richter Opalinski of Franconia, NH, her husband John, son Robert Chad of Laconia and his wife Becky (Boyd). He adored his grandchildren, Madison, Tyler, Marguerite Macie and Haley.
He is survived by his brother Douglas (Skip) M. Richter, Jr. of Braintree, MA and predeceased by his parents, June and Doug Richter.
A Celebration of Life for friends and family will be held at Smith Apple Orchard, 184 Leavitt Road, Belmont, NH on Saturday August 11, 2018 at 11:00am.
