Gilford-----Marilyn Grace Miller, 85, of Chestnut Drive died at the Laconia Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, Laconia on Sunday, August 5, 2018.
Marilyn was born on November 13, 1932 in Orange, NJ, the daughter of James Edward and Lillian Alberta (Ward) Messer.
Marilyn graduated from Morristown, New Jersey High School and William Paterson University with a BA and MED, she also attended UNH and Montclair State College and Orange Memorial Hospital School of Nursing.
Marilyn moved from Jefferson Township NJ to Gilford thirty two years ago. She had been a special education teacher for the Kingswood Regional High School, Wolfeboro, NH.
Marilyn was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Gilford. She volunteered in the emergency room at Lakes Region General Hospital since 1995, taught students with special needs for twenty one years, prior to teaching she worked in the medical profession for fifteen years. Marilyn enjoyed helping and caring for others.
Survivors include a son, Scott A. Miller and his wife, Debbie, of Marshalls Creek, Penn.; a daughter, Cindy S. Pollard, of Jefferson Township, N.J.; two grandchildren, Erin Miller of Marshalls Creek, Penn and Ashley Miller of Raleigh, N.C; a great granddaughter, Della Rose Calvosa and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she is predeceased by her husband, Richard A. Miller, a son, Craig R. Miller and by a brother, Robert W. Messer.
There will be no calling hours.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 11:00am at the First United Methodist Church, 18 Wesley Way, Gilford, N.H.
Burial will be at a later date at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, N.H.
