WORCESTER-Gemma L. (Bilodeau) McKeon, 81, of 20 Laureldale Road, formerly of Spencer, died Friday, November 25th, in Saint Vincent Hospital. She leaves her husband of 46 years Robert W. McKeon, a daughter; Michele G. wife of Stephen J. Gagne of Worcester, a son; Robert W. McKeon, Jr. and his wife Erin H. McKeon of Washington D.C., 2 sisters; Francoise Lecours of E. Angus, Quebec and Jeanne-Mance Bilodeau of Sherbrooke, Quebec, 2 grandchildren; Andrew S. and Michaela E. Gagne both of Worcester and many nephews and nieces.
She was born in Quebec, the daughter of Esdras and Victoria (Vachon) Bilodeau. She graduated from Hotel Dieu in Montreal and worked as a registered nurse there and later at Harrington Hospital in Southbridge for many years. She worked as the Activities Director of Notre Dame Long Term Care Center for several years, until retirement. Mrs. McKeon was commissioned as a 2nd lieutenant in the Royal Canadian Army Nurse Service on April 17, 1953. She was a member of Christ the King Church and loved spending time with her family and playing bingo at St. Christopher’s Church.
The funeral is Monday, November 28th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant Street. Burial will be in Quebec. Calling hours are Sunday, November 27th, from 2:00 until 5:00 PM in the funeral home.
