Obituary

Edward J. Sheehan, Jr.
Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather and Friend

Retired Pharmacist and Proprietor of Sheehan’s Tewksbury Pharmacy

Edward J. Sheehan, Jr., age 88, of Tewksbury, passed away unexpectedly on August 1, 2018 at Lowell General Hospital.

Fondly known as Cardinal, Sonny, EJ, Pete, Doc, Ziggy, and Hun, Ed was born in Newport, NH on June 4, 1930 to the late Edward J. and Mary L. (St. Cyr) Sheehan. Although he was an only child, he grew up with his cousins and considered them his siblings.

The beloved husband of the late Josephine T. (Sullivan) Sheehan, he was a lifelong resident of Tewksbury, MA and a graduate of Keith Academy.

He was a United States Navy Veteran and served in the Korean Conflict as a Medic attached to the Marines.

After his honorable discharge he graduated with a pharmacy degree from Mass College of Pharmacy.

He, with his wife, owned Sheehan’s Tewksbury Pharmacy and The Other Half Gift Shop.

Ed was a Trustee for the Tewksbury Public Library, and an elected member of the Tewksbury Board of Health.

When he couldn’t be found at the pharmacy, you were sure to find him at Long Meadow Golf Club, where he was a member since 1946 and served as president in 1968. He made life long friendships through the game of golf, where they shared many laughs, beers, fine cigars and the occasional competitive card game. With much competition on the course, Steady Eddy always sank the putt.

As a man of faith he would never miss the 7:30AM Sunday mass, and as an avid runner there was never a road race he would miss, his family always unsure if he was in them for the running, or the beer, and even the dancing in the streets that followed.

Ed lived a simple and uncomplicated life loving and supporting his family, playing golf and reading the newspaper, but above everything his love for his wife surpassed all. After 7 years of grief and longing, he is finally reunited with his one true love.

He is survived by his son Brian J. Sheehan and his wife Carol of N. Andover, daughter Nora C. Biewener and her husband James of Tewksbury, son Scott E. Sheehan of Salisbury, daughter Christine A. Smith and her husband Christohper of Tewksbury, and daughter Joane E. Golden and her husband Thomas of Lowell.
He was the grandfather of Collin Sheehan, Kenny Pickard, Nicholas and Olivia Sheehan, Shannon Smith, Kasey Smith Mootrey and her husband Jamie, and Julia Smith, Abigail and Lillian Golden and the great grandfather of Cal Mootrey.
He leaves behind numerous extended family members and friends.
