DAYTON- Albert S. Grover, 73, passed away peacefully August 1, 2018 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice, Scarborough, Maine with his loving family at his side. After a 2 ½ year struggle with cancer and its many side effects he is now at peace and pain free.
Al was born June 18, 1945, the son of Albert and Beatrice (Brown) Grover. He grew up in Bethel, Maine and graduated from Gould Academy, Bethel and Northeastern Business College, Portland, Maine. He was employed in the Life Insurance field for many years mostly in Connecticut. He returned to Maine in 1995 and in later years was employed in Real Estate and did seasonal work at L. L. Bean call center. He had been a member of Central Square Baptist Church in Portland. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Linda E. (Richardson) Grover, of Dayton, Maine, son William (Kristen) Grover, of Orchard Park, NY, daughter Deborah (Michael) Johnson, of Nobleboro, Maine, and daughter Susan (Shawn) Guillemette, of Springvale, Maine. Also surviving were his sister Carla (Nelson) Durgin, and grandchildren, Gabriella and Emmett Grover; Erica Johnson; and Adam, Alyssa, Ryan, and Chad Guillemette. When his children were younger he enjoyed helping with Little League, Scouts and PTO. Al was a “people person” and enjoyed meeting and chatting with everyone he met.
A service will be held on Wednesday August 22 at 2 PM at the Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel, 498 Long Plains Road (Rt. 22) in Buxton. Online condolence messages can be submitted at the funeral home website, www.mainefuneral.com.
