VALENTE, Lucy (Coppola) Of Needham, July 30, 2018 in her 100th year. Beloved wife of the late Orazio A. “Harry/Scotty” Valente. Loving mother of Patricia Accetta and her husband Louie of Needham, and Thomas Valente and his wife Kelly of Boston. Grandmother of Scotty Accetta and his wife Emily, Chris Accetta and his wife Christina, Kristen Hayes and her husband Jimmy, Casey, and Brian Valente. Sister of the late Theresa Voci, Joseph Coppola, Josephine Catalano, Sally Carpilio, and Rosie Ferraro. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Lucy was an extraordinary mother, grandmother, and devout catholic. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Bartholomew’s Church. Most of all she enjoyed her family. Lucy was born in Valle Fiorita, Calabria, Italy. She came by ship to Ellis Island in 1924. Long Branch, NJ was her first home but shortly after, she and her family settled for many years in the North End of Boston where she resided on Clarke Street. She enjoyed living among many Italian friends and family. Living in the North End held a special place in her heart. She eventually landed in Watertown where she married her beloved husband "Harry/Scotty" Valente in 1953 and settled in Needham from 1959 to present.
Lucy was known for her great authentic Italian cooking and anyone who dropped by was always treated to a wonderful meal at a moment's notice. She was loved and respected by her family and friends and was known for her beautiful smile, her caring and unselfish ways, and respect for all who touched her life including her "family" at Briarwood Healthcare in Needham. Lucy will be sorely missed by all.
