WILMINGTON - Robert W. “Bob” Jamieson, age 89, died peacefully Monday, July 30 at his home, in the loving care of his family and hospice after a courageous extended battle with declining health. He was the beloved husband for fifty-five years of Katherine “Kay” (Valente) Jamieson, who died in January 2015.
Bob was born in Everett in 1929, one of five children of the late Robert A. and Florence (Boudreau) Jamieson, was raised in Tewksbury and attended Tewksbury Schools. He and Kay had lived in Wilmington since 1952.
Bob drove long-haul trucks for several national carriers and worked Tuna boats in California for most of his working career. He was a member of Teamsters Local 25 in Boston. Since retirement, he had worked as a courier for Boutiette’s Auto Body and Patriot Auto Body companies in Tewksbury.
Bob was an active member at St. Dorothy’s Church in Wilmington, and was an active member of Fr. Coppen’s Council 4336, Knights of Columbus in Tewksbury, where had held most offices including Past Grand Knight.
He leaves four children, Donna Argrove of Chelmsford, Diane Peabody and her husband John of Windham, NH, Robert Jamieson and his wife Abby of Salt City, FL, and Lucille Mayle of Eutawville, SC; three sisters, Eleanor Roche, Beatrice Collins, Lorraine Boudreau and her husband Bernard, all of FL; a brother, Walter and his wife Kathy (Morris) Jamieson of Hollis, NH; and many nieces and nephews, including Suzanne Knowles of Billerica, and a dear friend Susan Felton of Wilmington, both whom had served as Bob’s home and health care providers, advocates, and assistants through the final chapters of his life.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, Aug. 3 at 12:00 Noon in St. Dorothy’s Church, corner of Harndon and Main Sts. (Rte. 38) Wilmington. Burial will follow in Tewksbury Cemetery.
