SWANSEA… Joseph Cabral, 81, of Swansea passed away Monday, July 30, 2018 at his home, surrounded by his family.
He was the husband of Elizabeth (Dupont) Cabral to whom he had been married for 40 years.
Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late Manuel Cabral (and his late wife Margaret Cabral) and Maria (Moniz) Cabral. He had lived in Swansea for the past 40 years.
Mr. Cabral worked as a Police Officer for the Fall River Police Department until his retirement in 1991 after 23 years of dedicated service. His favorite part about his career was being able to help people. Since his retirement, he had worked as a Bartender for the Liberal Club where he had been a member for 60 years. He enjoyed socializing and laughing with everyone. He was the Vice President of the Blue Knights motorcycle club out of Fall River back in the 1980's. An avid hunter and Boston Red Sox fan, Joe enjoyed yard work, tinkering around in his garage with all sorts of projects and relaxing in his back yard when he was finished for the day. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, and working on cars his whole life. He loved spending quality time with his family throughout the years, especially with his granddaughter Tori. Joe was a fighter, a survivor and encouraged people to always be the best they could be. His motto was: "Life is what you make of it." He lived his happy life just loving everyone that was around him.
Along with his wife, he is survived by his daughters: Melanie Jorge, her husband Nuno and his precious granddaughter Tori, Kristen Cabral & Kayla Cabral, all of Swansea, his sister: Carol Soares and husband Leo of Somerset. He was the father of the late Curtis J. Cabral and his 2 surviving children.
