PAXTON: John A. Hyland, 77 of Paxton, died Friday, July 27 in Brookside Rehabilitation in Webster after a long illness.
He leaves his wife of 22 years, Joan E. (Newcomb) Hyland, his sons John H. Hyland and his wife Susan of Oakham, and Peter A. Hyland and his husband Jay Hodge of Hudson, his daughter Robin Hyland and her husband Joe Jackson of Yucatan, Mexico, a brother George Hyland and his wife Elizabeth, four grandchildren; Molly, Anelia, Jessica and John W. Hyland, a great granddaughter Evolette, several nieces and nephews.
John worked in the maintenance dept. at Norton Co. in Worcester for 30 years, retiring in 1996.
Born in Worcester, he was the son of John C. and Nellie (Latvis) Hyland. He was a member of the former Lithuanian Club in Worcester. An avid runner, he completed both the Ocean State and Boston Marathons. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Private services will be held in Mooreland Cemetery, Paxton. There are no calling hours at his request. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
