Obituary

Gregory J. “Butch” Giallonardo, 72, of Franklin died July 29 in Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital Boston. He was the husband of Jane (Brunelli) for the past 41 years.

Born in Milford, June 7,1946, the son of the late Bernard “Benny” and Julia D. (Pizzi) Giallonardo, Mr. Giallonardo was a lifelong Franklin resident.

He was a 1964 graduate of Franklin High School where he played both football and baseball.

He had been the President and owner of Benny’s Oil Company in Franklin until his retirement.

Butch served in the Navy during the Vietnam War, attaining the rank of MM3.

He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon. He served on the USS New Jersey.

An avid golfer he was a longtime member of the Franklin Country Club.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his sister Linda Simarrian and her husband Wayne of Franklin and was the brother of the late Bernadine “Birdy” Jette.

He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

His memorial service will be held in the Franklin Federated Church, 171 Main Street, Franklin on Monday, August 6 at 10:00 a.m.

Burial will be private.

In lieu of flower expressions of sympathy say be made in his memory to the Friends of Franklin 50 Corbin Street, Franklin, MA 02038.
