Francis N. Saran, 98, of Buono Vista Avenue, Johnston, died Thursday at his home. He was the husband of the late Dorita A (Messier) Saran, who died in 2003.
Born in Providence, he was one of 12 children born to the late Alexander and Raya Saran. He had lived in Johnston for many years. He was a very compassionate man who had worked in construction for many years and later worked as a mechanic for the Town of Johnston. Mr. Saran served in US Army during WWII.
He is survived by his sons: Richard F. Saran and his wife, Lillian, of North Scituate, Ronald G. Saran and his wife, Jan of Seattle, Washington, Arthur Saran and his wife, Sharon of Burrillville and Robert C. Saran and his wife, Catherine of Johnston and his daughter, Dorita Downey and her husband, Jim Downey of Rhode Island. He was the father of the late Shirley Mello, who was married to John Mello at the time of her death. He had over 30 grandchildren and many, many Great grandchildren.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday at 10am in St. Robert Bellarmine Church, Atwood Avenue, Johnston. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the RI Veteran’s Cemetery, Exeter, RI. For messages of condolence visit andersonwinfield.net
