Maurice R. Ouellette, 92, of Milan, NH passed away on Thursday July 26, 2018 at the Weeks Medical Center in Lancaster, NH. He was born in Berlin, NH on March 17, 1926 the son of Ernest and Ann Marie (Hamel) Ouellette and worked for the AMC in his younger years on Mt. Madison. He entered the US Navy when he was 17 and served during World War II. He served with the Navy for 22 years, retiring when he was 39, and moved back to Berlin. He married the love of his life, Sylvia Labbe, and they later purchased and operated Brown Owl Camps in Wentworth Location, NH from 1967-1972. They then semiretired to Wentworth Location and wintered in Titusville, FL. He had also been the caretaker of Pine Point on Umbagog Lake. Maurice was a member of the White Mountain Post #2520 VFW and Good Shepherd Parish.
Family includes his daughter Georgette Starnes and husband Dale of Jay, ME; his son Paul Ouellette and wife Gisele of Milan, NH: grandchildren Joshua Starnes and wife Cari, Kristy Starnes and partner Kris Matchett, Christopher Ouellette and fiancée Bianca Clauss and Nicole Ouellette; 7 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife Sylvia (Labbe) Ouellette.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday August 2, 2018 at 10 AM at St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin on Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 PM. Donations in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
