Paul F. DeTeso of Woburn passed away on Friday, July 27th surrounded by his loving family. He is the beloved husband of 52 years to Mary Ellen (Farynaz) DeTeso. Devoted father of Kim Briand and her husband Lou of Chelmsford; Jody Goodwin and her husband Mark of Billerica; Becky Liese and her husband Scott of Waxhaw, NC. Cherished grandfather to Derek, Luke, and Kiley Briand. Brother of Daniel DeTeso and his wife Marjorie of Woburn; and the late Joseph DeTeso. Brother-in-law of Bill and Jane Farynaz, formerly of Woburn. Paul is also survived by four loving nephews; Damon DeTeso, Bill, Kevin, and Paul Farynaz. He leaves behind the only city he has considered home and many close friends, some of whom he has known for over 7 decades.
Paul graduated Woburn High School in 1960 and went on to serve in the United States Air Force as a Military Police Officer, K-9 Division. He then began a career in Information Technology, retiring from Dynamics Research Corporation in 2011. Paul enjoyed wintering in Naples with his wife and fellow Woburnites. His tight group of friends vacation together and find multiple reasons to enjoy life and spend time with each other. Paul loved to golf, especially in the DRC golf league, and enjoyed his yearly family golf tournament in Vermont with one of his best friends, Tommy Foley. Paul was an avid sports fan for all Boston teams. He was active in Woburn Little League Softball as he coached and managed each of his daughters’ teams. Paul and Mary Ellen were often dubbed Super Fans as they traveled the country to cheer on the sports teams for their grandchildren. Paul was also an avid movie watcher and could win random trivia contests at any given time. He eagerly supported the Mass State Lottery. His quick wit, warm smile, and charming personality allowed him to make friends with everyone. He will be sorely missed but never forgotten. The memory of the fun times he shared with those he loved is considered a gift.
Funeral services will be held from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Wednesday, August 1st, at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Anthony Church, 851 Main St, Woburn, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Tuesday from 3 to 7 p.m. Services will conclude with military honors and burial at Calvary Cemetery, Woburn. It has ben requested that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Paul's memory to Friends of Woburn Veterans, 144 School St., Woburn, MA 01801.
