Obituary

NATICK: David G. McAnern, 75, died peacefully on Friday, July 20, 2018 following a courageous and dignified battle with Leukemia.
He was born on April 4, 1943 in Portland, Maine the son of the late Robert G. McAnern and Muriel P. (Hawkes) McAnern.
David is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Karen A. (Krapf) McAnern of Natick. Devoted father of Jill E. Conlon and her husband James M. Conlon of Sagamore Beach; Linda A. Reed and her husband Jeff D. Reed of Melrose and Brian D. McAnern and his wife Raya McAnern of Natick. Cherished grandfather of Benjamin; Meghan; Colin; Sarah; Belle; Gavin and Patrick. Brother of Richard McAnern and Donald McAnern both of Andover. Also survived by a niece and three nephews.
David has been a resident of Natick for more than 40 years and spent his formative years in Andover. He graduated from Andover High School and received his BS in Business from Nichols College and his Masters Degree in Business from Syracuse University. David was a Senior Financial Analyst for over 40 years with Raytheon in several of their locations and retired from the Marlborough office of Raytheon.
David had many interests and hobbies which included creating stained glass designs, collecting coins, reading and hiking. He participated in and volunteered his time and energy with the Saint Zepherin’s Church Fair as well as the flower committee of the church. He enjoyed traveling with Karen and the children and also whitewater rafting. David also spent countless hours with the Meals on Wheels Program as a volunteer.
David was devoted to his wife Karen and his children and especially loved time spent with his grandchildren and all of their activities.
Visitations will be held on Sunday, July 29, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (off Rte.. 30), Wayland.
Family and friends are invited to go directly to Good Shepherd Parish at St. Zepherin Church, 99 Main Street (Rte. 27), Wayland on Monday, July 30, 2018 at 11:00 am for his Mass of Christian Burial.
Interment in St. Zepherin Cemetery will be private for his family at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, his family kindly suggests that memorial gifts in David’s memory may be sent to Bay Path Elder Services, Inc., 33 Boston Post Rd, Marlborough, MA 01752 to benefit the Meals on Wheels Program; Care Group Parmenter Home Care and Hospice, One Arsenal Marketplace, Watertown, MA 02472 or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
