Obituary

CHICOPEE – Mona M. “Grandma” (Beliveau) Briere, 89, of the Willimansett section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Friday, July 20, 2018. She passed into Eternal Life at the Holyoke Health Care Center surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born at her childhood home on Whitman Street in the Willimansett section of Chicopee on September 11, 1928, a beloved daughter of the late Edward Beliveau and Ida (Lefebvre) Beliveau. She was raised in Chicopee, graduated from Holy Rosary High School in Holyoke and was a lifelong resident of Chicopee. She was a longtime communicant of the former Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church and a communicant of Saint Anthony of Padua Church in Willimansett. During her leisure time, Mona and her late husband, Harvey cruised the Caribbean and also enjoyed vacations in Hawaii, Alaska, and Europe. She was a member of the Chicopee and South Hadley Senior Citizen’s Cribbage Club and a member of the Chicopee Knitting Clubs where she taught people how to knit. Most of all, she loved her family and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Jean L.H. “Harvey” Briere who was Called Home on January 15, 2016. They were married on September 3, 1949 at the former Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Willimansett and were blessed with over 66 years of happiness together. She leaves her two loving children, Noreen M. Parent and her husband, Robert, of Easthampton and Richard K. Briere and his wife, Janet, of Goshen; her six cherished grandchildren, Christopher Parent and his wife, Amy, Jamie Parent and his wife, Virginia, Tiffany Bombard and her husband, Shawn, Jeremy Cote, Joseph Briere and Thomas Briere; her eight cherished great-grandchildren, Joshua Parent and twins Alexander and Zachary Parent, Olivia Parent, Cullen and Lucas Parent and Morgan and Ethan Bombard; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Briere and Beliveau families. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her dear brother, Edward Beliveau and his wife, Dorothy; her dear sister, Eunice Krupa and her husband, Gene, her dear brother-in-law, Norman Briere and his wife, Rita; and her two dear sisters-in-law, Rita Bayeur and her husband, Real, and Rhea Jacquot and her husband, Roger. Her Funeral will be held on Thursday, July 26, 2018 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her Burial will follow the Mass at Notre Dame Cemetery, 63 Lyman Street, South Hadley, MA 01075. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
