Obituary

STANDISH- With great sadness, the family of Taylor James Steeves announce his passing on July 22, 2018 at the age of 31, at his childhood home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. Talented, authentic, loving, passionate and kind, Taylor truly had a special place in the heart of each and every person who knew him. He was incredibly hard working and it was that strong spirit that carried him through the fight, we are devastated to lose him so young.

Taylor will be remembered as a devoted son, brother, and supportive friend. He had a quiet humility that kept him from touting his many achievements and talents. He was a lover of all things outdoors--an avid ice fishermen and hiker; athletic--playing baseball, football and rugby all through his school years and into college. Taylor enjoyed acting, singing, writing, and showcasing some pretty sick dance moves when given the opportunity. Taylor had the ability to fill the room with laughter, engage listeners for hours with his storytelling and have conversations with his brother using only movie quotes. He was the best of everything and could make anyone feel appreciated for who they are. He lived fully, loved and cared fiercely for so many people. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Taylor was born July 12, 1987 in Portland, Maine to Scott and Claire (Knapp) Steeves. After graduating from Bonny Eagle High School, Class of 2006, he went on to attend the University of Maine at Farmington, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts in English. Taylor made countless and treasured friendships and memories while he worked as a white water rafting guide in The Forks, a wilderness therapy guide in Stow, ME and substitute taught at his hometown schools. Taylor further fulfilled his love of learning by pursuing a Respiratory Therapy Degree from SMCC. After he graduated in May 2017 at the top of his class, he went on to work at Maine Medical Center as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.

Taylor is loved and adored by his parents, Scott and Claire; brother Ryan (Kirsten); niece Rowen Taylor; beloved grandmother Jessie Steeves; cherished aunts, uncles and cousins from the Steeves and Knapp families; and many, many dear friends. A Celebration of Life will be held at The Barn at Autumn Lane, 13 Autumn Lane, Sebago, Maine, from 2:00-8:00 PM Saturday, August 4, 2018.
