Obituary

Linda A. (McAffery) Mannke, of Medford and formerly of Cambridge, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, July 22nd at the Woodbriar Nursing Home of Wilmington. She was 73.

Born in Cambridge, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Crusco) McAffery. Linda graduated from Cambridge Rindge and Latin School with the Class of 1961. After high school, Linda built a career working as an administrative assistant for Tufts University and the City of Cambridge. Following her retirement in 2012, Linda spent much of her time with family and friends.

In her spare time, Linda enjoyed writing poetry and painting with water colors. She was famous for painting nature scenes and finding rocks outside that she could paint on as gifts for her family. Linda loved to walk and she walked everywhere. She would often walk to work from Medford to Cambridge. In the summer, Linda and her partner, Frank, would vacation to Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, where she liked being on the beach, swimming in the ocean and lying out in the sun. Linda was a kind person who enjoyed being active in her community. She was a member of both St. Joseph and St. Clement’s choir. A loving and selfless person, there wasn’t anything Linda wouldn’t do for those she loved. She will be greatly missed by all the lives she touched.

Linda was the beloved life partner of Frank Troiani of Medford, with whom she shared many loving years. She was the devoted mother of William R. Mannke and his wife Stacy of Woburn and Robert J. Mannke of Medford. Linda was the loving grandmother of Amanda and Robbie Mannke, and the loving great grandmother of Devin, Maya and Charli, all of Woburn. She was the dear sister of David McAffery of Haverhill, and is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit with the family at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main Street, Medford, on Friday, July 27th from 9-11 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford at 11:30 AM. Interment will be held privately.
