Lois M. (Lynch) O'Connell, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Sunday, July 22, 2018 at her home in Charlestown. She was 86 years of age.
Lois was born in Winthrop on September 13, 1931, a daughter of the late Eugene B. Lynch and Margaret R. (Cunning) Lynch. She grew up in Charlestown where she attended St. Francis De Sales Parochial School and graduated from St. Joseph's High School in Somerville. Lois worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in the Land Court division before becoming a Supervisor for the Department of Revenue and retired following 20 years of dedicated service. Lois enjoyed the many family get togethers at her home in Charlestown and especially each year on Bunker Hill Day in Charlestown.
Lois is the beloved wife of the late John J. "Skin" O'Connell. She is the devoted mother of Janet DeYoung and her husband George of Billerica, Steven J. O'Connell of North Carolina, Christine Kane and her husband Larry of Hanover and Edward J. O'Connell and his wife Darlene of Marshfield. She is the loving Nana to Marc and Amy, Jennifer and John, Scott and Renee, Christopher, Amanda, Lindsey and her 7 great-grandchildren. She is the beloved sister of Eugene "Buddy" Lynch and the late James Lynch and Rita Doyle. She is also lovingly survived by her many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Lois's Funeral on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at 10 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 11 A.M. Her burial will be private. Her visiting hours will be on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 from 4 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
