Obituary

Peter "Pete" D. Juarez age 73 was called home to be with the Lord the morning of July 3, 2018 in Downey, Idaho where he had lived for the past 10 years. He was born in Oxnard, CA on April 11, 1945 to David Juarez (deceased) and Marie (Ramirez) Beebe.
Pete's center of the world was his beloved Saticoy where he was raised and attended elementary school. He graduated from Oxnard High School in 1962. At Oxnard High, Pete excelled academically and athletically distinguishing himself as a baseball stand out, earning CIF Honors. In 1971, Pete enrolled in Ventura College and actively became involved in the Chicano Movement as a Mechista and community activist. He was elected ASB President in 1973. The activism of Pete and other MEChA students during the early 70's produced major changes at VC that benefitted students of color to this day. In 1975, he earned his BS Degree in Business Administration from Loyola Marymount. Pete served his country as a member of the US Army from 1966-69, during the height of the Viet-Nam War.
For many years, he lived next door to his maternal grandparents, Ruperto and Beatriz Ramirez (both deceased) whom he dearly loved. Gatherings at the Ramirez and Juarez residences were a common thing in the early 70's. Pete enjoyed listening to the music of Jose Alfredo Jimenez and CCR. Pete was gifted with a keen memory and a gift of gab. "A Pete le gustaba hablar."
Pete and his former wife Lucille raised an amazing son, Peter "PJ", their pride and joy. "PJ" and wife Christina gave birth to sons, Justin and Jacob who regenerated Pete's life once more. He was proud of them and truly enjoyed spending time and having them over during the summers in Idaho.
Pete was a "True Died Hard" Oakland Raider and Dodger fan. He enjoyed playing softball, pool table, cruising in old cars, and having a "cold one."
During his many travels and adventures, the one that stands out took place during the summer of '71 when he and his "compa" Lencho Moraza traveled into the interior of Mexico for 30 days. A memorable trip that Pete would forever talk about. Pete will be sadly missed and remembered by so many that he touched throughout his life.
He is remembered by his brothers: Bill Culhane, Tony Juarez, and David (PJ) Juarez; his sisters: Teresa Beebe and Hilda (Gino) Mena; and countless relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his step-father Fred Beebe and numerous relatives.
Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Service at 12 noon on Saturday, July 28, 2018 in JOSEPH P. REARDON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICE, 757 E. Main Street, Ventura.
